Wynwood: Arte Radical

Wynwood is the concrete translation of the other Miami — the Miami of the art vanguard. It is rebellious, irreverent and it’s exploding with talent. The industrial warehouses, once abandoned, are today home to studios, few stores and restaurants. It is located 15 minutes from Miami Beach but it seems to be in another town. The  art lover knows how to navigate in Wynwood: he/she visits all the established galleries — The Rubell Family Collection, the Gallery Diet, the Fredric Snitzer Galleries, the Margulies Collection and MOCA’s warehouse — but still leaves plenty of room in his/her head to absorb the ephemeral radicalism of its walls. The quality of grafitti in Wynwood is shocking. Each corner begets its own emotional bang: giant murals, tiny spray-painted impressions on the sidewalks and buildings turned into paintings…to come to Miami and not to visit Wynwood is to go to Paris and skip the Louvre.
